5.0 out of 5 stars New Take on the Oregon Trail
Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2025
This tightly written story packs a lot of adventure and romance in its pages. The author provides a fascinating – and historically accurate – glimpse into this Oregon Trail saga, and gives us a number of characters to interest us. Let’s hope for a sequel.

GREAT BOOK CLUB EVENT
I had a great opportunity to meet with a book club in Peachtree City, Georgia. My connection to the out-of-state club was through my dear sister-in-law who attends a monthly book club which gathers to review and discuss chosen titles. The lead up to the January meeting began way back in 2025 around August and resulted in a meeting with the group of ladies pictured below.

(I’m the tall guy). The women had read Turning Points and were well-informed. Several ladies brought their paperback copies, and I was glad to autograph each one. We met for about two hours, and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and delicious cherry cobbler prepared by my wife and her sister.
In addition to recalling specific scenes and favorite characters in the current novel, we talked about the sequel (working title: Holding On) that is underway. In fact, I asked two of the members to read different versions of the opening chapter of the sequel. I was impressed by how well they read the pages without a rehearsal. The group’s feedback about the opening chapters will be a help as I fine-tune the story.
The gathering was such a great experience I’m pursuing how to contact more book clubs. If you know of a book club in your area, please let me know who to contact.
